It's no secret that Lady Gaga
is back with a fresh new single "Perfect Illusion," which was released last night at midnight. The world hasn't heard much from the singer after 2013's underwhelming Artpop
. Since then, she has collaborated with Tony Bennett which was actually pretty awesome except it wasn't the Gaga we fell in love with. Then she released "Til It Happens To You," and now she's finally returning to her original form with this latest single which was produced by Gaga herself along with Mark Ronson, Tame Impala's Kevin Parker, and Bloodpop.
The song is a bit repetitive generic 80s pop, but we're happy to see Gaga taking on the attitude of 2009's Fame Monster
once again. It overflows with creepy synths and a Tame Impala-esque drum pattern. There's a growl of confidence in her voice and she even tackles a key change later in the song. It's definitely getting us excited to hear what else she has got up her sleeve.
