Mineral closed off their three-night, sold out run at the Bowery Ballroom last night with Chicago's Into It. Over It.. The four piece, based in Austin, disbanded in 1997 and returned in 2014 for a reunion tour playing songs from their highly influential albums "The Power of Failing" (1997) and "EndSerenading" (1998). Evan Thomas Weiss' solo project, Into It. Over It., is the perfect pairing for this reunion tour, each band bouncing off each others' loud dynamic and melodic vocals. With amplifiers surrounding the stage, the music felt amplified beyond human perception; all the noise surrounded the crowd and created a nuzzle of head bobs.
Mineral fans gathered closely to the stage belting out each work back to lead singer Chris Simpson, who remained relatively quiet between songs and hung his body above his guitar. Mineral's comeback was long overdue, fans embraced during songs, grinned, and danced wide-eyed in disbelief; they've been waiting for this moment since 1998.
