Five Songs We Hope To Never Hear Again After Labor Day Weekend

Whether you were fist pumping at the Jersey Shore, walking around the city or shot-gunning beers in your parent's backyard, chances are that you heard one of these overplayed (and some just plain awful) songs. In any case, my hope with the end of summer is the end of hearing these songs, and maybe the end of my headaches. So, along with your bikinis, margaritas (maybe) and flip-flops, I hope you'll consider retiring the following songs; it's been a good run.

    1) "Call Me Maybe" Carly Rae Jepsen

When people say they like this song, I often think they are masochists. Do they like hearing the same five words over and over again in a peppy voice? I sure as hell know I don't. I'm usually rolling my eyes at this song too, so consider this sentence my eye-roll. Call me crazy, but I would stop waiting for that phone call, Carly.

    2) "Somebody That I Used To Know" Gotye

This song started off as one I really enjoyed. After seeing it appear everywhere, it lost its sentimental value and lyrical beauty. Now, every time I hear the song, Gotye sounds like he's forever whining. I just think about myself saying "get over it already," but apparently, he hasn't yet.

    3) "We Are Young" fun.

This song is definitely not fun for me. I can't believe Janelle Monae took the time to perform on this track. (Side note: You can barely even hear her).

I miss The Format. That is all. [Ed. Note: THIS SONG WILL ALWAYS BE FUN, ILANA! Definitely overplayed though, I'll stick with "Some Nights." ]

    4) "As Long As You Love Me" Justin Bieber

Forgive me for not being a "Belieber," but I feel like I could tolerate Justin Bieber slightly more before his voice dropped an octave. Also, I feel like BSB (for those of you who didn't grow up in the '90s: Backstreet Boys) claimed the name of this track long ago. [Ed. Note: AGREE.]

    5) "Titanium" David Guetta featuring Sia

At first, I was excited to see my girl Sia going in a different direction. It was fun for a little while, until this song began dominating my evenings out. I just longed for "Breathe Me" Sia. Sometimes, crossing over isnt necessariliy the best thing to do.
