LA trio HAIM
has just released their short film Valentine,
shot and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. The film follows the three sisters, Danielle, Este, and Alana, as they perform new songs from their then-unreleased sophomore album, Something To Tell You,
live in the studio. It was shot at Valentine Recording Studios in Los Angeles and features performances of the album's title track, "Right Now," and "Nothing's Wrong."
If you weren't a HAIM fan before, this film might make you think twice. After watching Danielle slay not only on the guitar but the drums, and seeing the percussive teamwork between Este and Alana, it's really interesting to see the rhythmic songs effortlessly come to fruition. The film offers an intimate glimpse into their recording sessions and reinforces their skills not only as writers, but as multi-instrumentalists.
