Say what you will about Iggy Azalea
, but homegirl has been mighty busy in 2014. She's been touring, featured in countless news stories, and been the subject of the latest sex tape scandal. What's more, not only did she release her debut album The New Classic
, but she has been featured on four tracks since April. That's a lot of writing and rapping for just a few months, and it may be starting to show.
T.I. just released the Grandtheft Remix of "No Mediocre," a track featuring Iggy Azalea that was originally released earlier this year. The song tells a harrowing tale of romance, best explained by the chorus: "All I fuck is bad bitches/ I don't want no mediocre." Iggy, for her part, contributes such golden lines of wisdom as "Courtside while designer frames cover my face/Now everybody in the game wanna get 'em a taste."
Sound familiar? That may be because Iggy's lines seem eerily similar to those in Jennifer Lopez
's new single "Booty", on which she is also featured. Iggy raps "Girls with the cheeks, put 'em hands in the air/Then pop that, pop that, let 'em know that you there/See everybody wanna get a taste." Now, by no means do I want to suggest that Iggy does not possess a bottomless well of creative depth and lyrical genius, but this fixation with "getting a taste" could be a sign that our favorite Aussie rapper has been working a wee bit hard lately, and is running out of ideas.
Along with "No Mediocre" and "Booty," Iggy was featured on Ariana Grande
's single "Problem" and DJ Green Lantern's "Know About Me" remix this year, neither of which make any mention of Iggy's infamous taste.
Take a breather, Iggy, we promise not to stop talking about you.
