The Electrifying Soul of Matisyahu

I'm non-practicing, but my Jewish ethnic heritage is incredibly important to me, and so I've obviously always had a soft spot in my heart for Matisyahu. He's not rocking the Orthodox look anymore, but I get that. The role of faith in our lives is always changing, and if having a trimmed beard and wearing more conventional clothes is how Matisyahu wants to present himself, good for him. You can be devout and embrace your faith while still living a modern life. And we couldn't be happier to be premiering a live video from a slightly more modern Matisyahu today. Cause full-beard or no, he's still got it.

We have the exclusive premiere for the music video for "Reservoir," off of Matisyahu's 2014 LP, Akeda. He'll also be releasing in October of this year, Live At Stubb's Vol. III (which you can pre-order here) featuring stripped down versions of many of his favorite songs. But there's nothing stripped down about this track or this video. With Matisyahu's raw and emotive voice and the electrifying guitar work towards the track's end, it proves that Matisyahu is as comfortable with a rock melody as he is with his reggae voice. And with a black & white video with imagery as stark as this, we couldn't be happier that Matisyahu is back.

And be sure to check out our exclusive session with Matisyahu below.
