SONG OF THE DAY: 'Goodbyes' by Jordan Rakei

New Zealand-born, Australian-raised Jordan Rakei is a 25 year old singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, now based out of London. With a jazz-tinged, soul driven brand of hip-hop, Jordan Rakei really can do it all. Jordan's multitude of abilities have not gone unnoticed; he lended his voice to Disclosure's album, Caracal, after the release of his 2014 EP Groove Curse. If all that isn't enough, Rakei released an EP of EDM tracks under the name Dan Kye.

Jordan has a new album coming out on the 22nd (two days from now!) titled Wallflower. The latest single from the album, "Goodbyes" is a work of art. The song opens with a stunning orchestral line that seems like it was taken straight out of a movie score. The vibe quickly changes, as the beat and piano come in, rapidly taking the song in a much jazzier direction. The standout feature of this song, though, is Jordan's smooth, soulful voice. His flowing vocal delivery will have you immediately putting this song on repeat to hold yourself over until the rest of the album comes out. Rakei says "Goodbyes" is a song about "totally investing your love and energy into someone in the early stages of a relationship, but those feelings might not be reciprocated," and you'll without a doubt be totally investing your love and energy into this song, Jordan, and his upcoming album, Wallflower.
