It's tough to recapture the stark beauty of The xx's minimalism. So last week, UK singer Martina Topley-Bird didn't go for replication, she took another route in her cover of "Crystalised." Signs point to Mark Lanegan as the male voice on this track, and it also seems that Massive Attack and Warpaint either produced or played on the cover. Considering those bands' trip-hop leanings and Topley-Bird's past collaborations with Tricky, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise that her cover is a tripped out version of the song -- a little more dreary and lagging than the original with xylophone, loose bass plucks and a hint of melodica. The surprise instead is how well it actually turns out. On her Facebook page, Topley-Bird promises that there's "more to come soon," so we're pretty psyched about that.

Until then, listen to "Crystalised" below.
