free mp3: a place to bury strangers

A Place to Bury Strangers has released a very noisy cover of David Bowie's "Suffaragette City" completely free of charge for your listening... err... pleasure. The band ably defends its underground title as "NYC's loudest band" with this recording, which sports an nearly impenetrable wall of viciously distorted, sometimes to the point of white noise, guitars and bass. The hectic pace and ominous vocals only add to the mayhem. It's intense, to say the least, and is a unique take on the Bowie classic.

The cover was released in physical form today, September 14th, as a part of Manimal Vinyl's We Were So Turned On: A Tribute to David Bowie compilation, which also features the likes of MGMT, Warpaint, Chairlift, Lewis & Clarke, and Duran Duran among others. A Place to Bury Strangers is currently touring the US, playing with a wide variety of other acts. -peter menniti
