Small Black Embrace Psychedelic Noise Pop

    The night we caught Small Black at Brooklyn Bowl was a blast. Some of us were there capturing the evening on video. Our Managing Editor was taking pictures. But we were all lost in the dream-pop dance grooves of the Brooklyn outfit. The band's got a new record, Best Blues, due out 10/16, and they've shared another track, "Back at Belle's," from the forthcoming record. This track eschews some of the dancier, synth-pop the band occasionally trades in for a psychedelic swirl of simultaneously dissonant and melodic noise. It's a bit more avant-garde than the group's typical output, but it should scratch the itch for anybody jonesing for deeply layered and textured noise pop.
