Earlier this year, the world was given a new Netflix original series titled Stranger Things. The show was an overnight success with thousands of viewers trading in sleep to binge-watch it in its entirety. The show, which is a mix of sci-fi, mystery, and drama, gives us an adrenaline rush with dark backstories and thrilling adventures. But perhaps the most enticing part of it all is the cast. Characters like Eleven, Will, Barbara, and Joyce were instantly iconic from the beginning of the first episode. After taking into account their strong personalities, we decided to give them each a song that describes them and tells their story best.

    1. Joyce Byers - "Let My Baby Stay" by Mac Demarco

Well ain't this one pretty self-explanatory? Joyce Byers, played by the legendary Winona Ryder, is a mother who just had her son, the love of her life (besides her other son), taken away from her. Throughout the entire series, we see Byers weeping and crying over the loss of her son. She runs around the town begging everyone for help. Let her baby stay.

    2. Jim Hopper - "Smooth Criminal" by Michael Jackson

Jim Hopper is the good cop who has helped Will's family put all the pieces together about his disappearance. He hunts down criminals and makes sure that everyone's okay. Sorry, I mean he hunts down smooooth criminals.

    3. Mike Wheeler - "I Really Like You" by Carly Rae Jepsen

Um, just because he has a BIG FAT CRUSH on Eleven. Sure he's also a nerd who loves science and cares about his friends, but we all know this is the song that was playing in his head when he went in for a kiss with El. Could you be any more obvious, dude?

    4. Will Byers - "Get Me Out Of Here" by Third Eye Blind

Will says he likes "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash but what he's really listening to is "Get Me Out Of Here" because he's trapped in the Upside Down. Duh!

    5. Dustin Henderson - "My Shiny Teeth and Me" by Chip Skylark

I'M KIDDING. That's so mean. Gaten Matarazzo, the actor who plays Dustin, actually suffers from a rare condition that causes the lack of teeth. I just never have a reason to incorporate this song into anything which is a shame because it's such a great song.

Instead, let's give him this bad ass song...

    "Elephant" by Tame Impala

We will forever remember the scene where Troy was bullying Dustin and then El made Troy piss his pants. Amazing. Because we've seen Dustin get bullied more than once on the show, we're giving him "Elephant," which is all about some shitty dude with lots of power, manhood, and insecurity so he takes it out on others. No one likes this guy. So it's about how Dustin feels about his bully.

    6. Lucas Sinclair - "She Ain't Right" by Lee Brice

For *most* of the season, Lucas never trusted Eleven. Out of the three boys, he was always going against her. Lucas feels this way about her, but in a less romantic sense... C'mon, picture it: "Sometimes her mouth could use a filter... Dangerous, absolutely."

    7. Eleven - "Self Machine" by I Blame Coco

Eleven was a bit more complicated since we don't know too much about her yet and she's a bit of a mystery. But then we remembered that this song exists. Peep some of the lyrics:

"I saw the mirror staring back at me
And it told me I'm a self machine
    Lonely robot in a wasteland
    Rusting in a lonely harbor"

    Does that not SCREAM Eleven?!

    8. Nancy Wheeler - "Brave" by Sara Bareilles

Nancy is low key a dope woman, but she keeps letting her lame boyfriend walk all over her. When she sticks up for her friends and ditches Steve, this song is blastin'.

    9. Jonathan Byers - "Creep" by Radiohead

We love Jonathan. He has nothing but good intentions. He loves Nancy and he wants to save his brother... But let's face it. He's a little creepy. Remember that time he was taking pics of Nancy and Steve in their backyard? Normal. We think he often struggles with where he belongs.

    10. Dr. Martin Brenner - "Am I Evil?" by Metallica

Yeah Dr. Martin Brenner, you are evil.

    11. Steve Harrington - "Love Me" by The 1975

Steve is always prancing around like "Look at me!" "Spend time with me!" "I'm so cool!" He's always rubbing his sensual manhood in Nancy's face and is just an overall shitty dude. This tune symbolizes his shallow and narcissistic personality.

    12. Barbara - "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds

WHEN WILL WAS STILL ALIVE, PEOPLE WERE FREAKING OUT. WHEN BARBARA DIED, NO ONE CARED??? LET'S NOT EVER FORGET ABOUT BARB. She's going to come back and haunt Nancy with this song and rightfully so.

    13. Mr. Clarke - Bill Nye The Science Guy Theme Song

I just did this one for fun. 'Cause he's the science teacher and stuff.
