We all have those petty moments every once in awhile, but sometimes the mood strikes and you're really feeling petty. Maybe a friend just betrayed you, or you recently had a break up. Maybe there's no reason at all and you just feel like being petty. Whatever it is, you may find that your regular playlist just isn't cutting it, and you need some petty lyrics to fit your equally petty mood and maybe feed the fire a bit. Well, look no further - this is the perfect playlist for all your petty needs.

    1. Darwin Deez - "Bad Day"

Don't let the catchy, upbeat sound fool you - this song is 100% petty. While most petty songs are about exes, this one is pretty general and relatable, so it can definitely make sense in a bunch of different situations. Darwin Deez's clever, quirky lyricism comes through just as much in "Bad Day" as it does in his love songs, so even if you're not feeling particularly petty "Bad Day" is still a fun listen.

Pettiest Lyric: "If you drop your keys, I hope there's a sewer somewhere very nearby."

    2. Carrie Underwood - "Before He Cheats"

This one's a classic revenge song, and probably everyone's go to if someone cheats on them. You can really tell Carrie Underwood was thinking a lot about the whole situation. She spends most of the song detailing what he's probably doing right now, and it gets pretty specific. The "fruity little drink ‘cause she can't shoot whiskey," the white-trash Shania karaoke… she obviously has a very clear view of the kind of person her ex is.

Pettiest Lyric: "I slashed a hole in all four tires/Maybe next time he'll think before he cheats."

    3. Be Your Own Pet - "Becky"

"Becky" kind of crosses the line of pettiness into, well, actual violence, but it's more cheeky than serious. This one is good for those moments when you're feeling petty about betrayal from a friend; "Becky" is all about broken trust.

Pettiest Lyric: "You know everyone hates me a whole bunch/Just because I made you cry a little bit at lunch."

    4. Marsha Ambrosius - "Hope She Cheats On You (With A Basketball Player)"

The pettiness in Marsha Ambrosius' song is really specific, and it's kind of really funny. The title of the song, "Hope She Cheats On You (With A Basketball Player)," wraps it up pretty well. If you're feeling petty about your ex and feeling bitter like Marsha Ambrosius, this song is a good go-to.

Pettiest Lyric: "Got you on Viagra in order for you to stay up."

    5. Action Bronson, Chance the Rapper - "Baby Blue"

Specifically, the pettiness in this song comes from Chance's verse. He lists all the things he hopes happens to this girl who's apparently always really terrible. Also, I'm noticing there's a pattern here - there seems to be a lot of hoping in petty songs. Chance is certainly doing a lot of hoping in his verse for "Baby Blue."

Pettiest Lyric: "I hope every soda you drink already shaken up."

    6. Little Mix - "Shout Out to My Ex"

It's pretty easy to tell just from the name of the song that it's a petty anthem. Little Mix stays positive with lyrics like "Im'a live my life," and at least credits their exes with the backhanded thank-you, "You made my heart break and that made me who I am."

Pettiest Lyric: "I hope she gettin' better sex/Hope she ain't fakin' it like I did, babe."

    7. Avril Lavigne - "Sk8er Boi"

In another classic, Avril Lavigne is basically calling out a girl for judging her beloved skater boy. It's a story of success as revenge, which is the perfect thing to listen to when you're feeling petty, and especially if you're being judged like the skater boy was.

Pettiest Lyric: "Sorry, girl, but you missed out/Well, tough luck, that boy's mine now."

    8. The All-American Rejects - "Gives You Hell"

Of course, all of "Gives You Hell" is pretty petty, but it's especially petty at the end when they directly address the fact that the girl is probably going to hear the song, and it will probably "give you hell." There's a moment where it almost seems like there may be a saving grace in "And truth be told I miss you," but it's quickly squashed in the next line, "And truth be told I'm lying."

Pettiest Lyric: "When you hear this song/I hope that it will give you hell."
