St. Vincent's Video For 'New York' is Typical Annie Clark on Steroids

St. Vincent has released her video for her highly acclaimed new single "New York," and it's pretty much textbook Annie Clark on steroids. Seriously, I could imagine Clark sitting in the director's chair, ripping a gnarly guitar solo (because she's always shredding no matter where she is, right?), saying, "now let's just add a pop of color. A pop of color!" in a weird French-ish accent. BOOM! It's color block central - blue eyeshadow, red lips, lavender couches, yellow windows, pink velvet bathing suits, and more. And it doesn't end there. There's just as much plastic as there is color - hot pink spandex on anonymous butt cheeks, patent leather knee high boots, disco balls, lip-shaped telephones, and more. Man, just when you thought the video for "Digital Witness" was good, Clark decides to go ahead and drop this magical shit.

The video was directed by Alex Da Corte in association with All Ages Productions, and "New York" is Clark's first official single in two years. She also recently announced her Fear The Future Tour, which kicks off on October 7th in Los Angeles.
