Bittersweet. Somber. Maybe a little hopeful... These are all things that could very well describe that end-of-summer feeling, which, with tomorrow being September 1st, is something that we can all relate to right now. Kissing summer goodbye is never easy but luckily, Old Sea Brigade
just released their new EP, Cover My Own,
and it is the perfect piece of music to listen to as we transition into the next season. If we feel like we're about to freak out (me, every five seconds), just turn on the title track, which is guaranteed to instantly sooth with its solid mix of acoustic guitar and synths. The downtempo swing of "Let Me Know" will make you feel like you're swimming in warm water. The distant vocals in "Waiting For" feel a bit ominous, but in a reassuring way, like something good is about to happen.
Ben Cramer, the Atlanta-raised, Nashville-based singer-songwriter behind Old Sea Brigade, told us more about the EP, "[it] is a bit of a consolidation of the past year for me. Learning how to live with the good and the bad. From coping with loss of a close friend to finding beauty in every day life. In many ways, the songs reflect living every day knowing you're not supposed to get over certain events but have them remind you how fragile and special life is."
Cramer will also be playing AmericanaFest in Nashville on September 14th (you can catch him at 9:00pm at East Room). Then he will be leaving to support Lewis Watson in the UK. You can find all dates here
