Speedy Ortiz Find Their Inner The Cardigans On Noise Pop Cover

Here's the thing about The Cardigans: "Lovefool" was an anomaly in their catalogue. Like many 1 Hit Wonders of the 1990s, this band was skyrocketed to fame for a song that isn't especially indicative of what their music actually sounds like. I love explaining to people that Chumbawumba (aka "Tubthumping") is actually a punk band full of radical anarchists. So, of course, indie noise/alt pop darlings Speedy Ortiz would be the perfect band to cover one of The Cardigans' more representative tracks. They tackled "Hanging Around" (not to be confused with Counting Crows track of the same name), and it's layered, textured noise jam goodness. It's been a good year for Speedy Ortiz. Here's hoping that it keeps getting better.
