Queen Bey to the Rescue

Over the weekend, Hurricane Harvey moved through Houston and Southeastern Texas, and left a trail of destruction in his wake. Due to more than 50 inches of rainfall, tens of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes. Streets, homes, and public buildings alike have been completely flooded. People have been sleeping on countertops and roofs, any surface they could find above the water level, while waiting to be rescued.

Hurricane Harvey is the first major hurricane to make landfall on the United States in more than a decade, and neither the residents of Texas, nor the first responders were prepared for storm of this size to hit. Trump did what he did best, and took to Twitter to deliver some half-assed tweets.

Luckily, the President is not the only person in America that we have to rely on for support during difficult times like these. Sunday night, comedian Kevin Hart donated $25k to the Red Cross, and called for more celebrities to help out those in need. Drake stated in an Instagram post that he is working with relief groups to aid the city he has come to call home.

Houston Native Ms. Beyoncé Knowles is also doing her fair share to help those affected by the Hurricane. In a statement to the Houston Chronicle, Beyonce said "My heart goes out to my hometown, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so brave and determined to do so much to help," Beyoncé wrote. "I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John's in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can."

BeyGOOD is Beyonce's charity organization that backs various non-profit groups and causes, most recently the water crisis in Burundi.
