Way back in March of 2012, I covered a THEESatisfaction show at Cameo Gallery
in Brooklyn, and one of the two opening bands that night was Brooklyn electro-pop act Cookies
. I was very impressed. Their mix of Talking Heads meets Lana Del Rey meets The Dismemberment Plan was fresh and unlike any of the other live bands I saw back when I was an intern in 2012. I've been waiting to hear new music from them for ages, and they've finally delivered.
The group has their debut album, Music For Touching
, out 9/9, and if the first single, "Go Back" is any indication, the band hasn't lost that magic I saw in a then unpolished pop act opening for an underground hip-hop act two and a half years ago. It's a glittering R&B number fused to synth-pop production, and hopefully, the band's audience keeps growing because here's a fledgling band worth your attention.
And while you're at it, you should check out one of their older singles. It's three and a half years old at this point (it used to have a proper video on Youtube, but I don't know what happened to it), but it was the song that got me into this group in the first place, and hopefully, it can do the same thing for you.
