We didn't go into the week preparing a mixtape for hurricanes, but we're pretty sure it's part of your balanced 'Go Bag', maybe even more important than duct tape. So we put together a list of our favorite tracks from the week, regardless of impending power outages and Baeble potentially being 30 feet underwater. It goes great with your emergency stockpile of beer and whiskey. On with the tape!

    1. "Puzzle Pieces" - Saint Motel - Single

This is the first in the LA band's efforts to put together a full length LP after already establishing them as a prolific party machine, boasting Zombie Proms and lasers and more. Their shows are supposed to be unabashadly fun, and they play Rock Shop tonight in New York... who knows what's they're cooking up.

    2. "The Birds Part 1" - The Weeknd - Thursday

Abel Tesafaye continues his dedication to maximum R&B wooziness. Whether or not you've subscribed to the hype yet, it's worth it, it's free!

    3. "Yellow Missing Signs" - Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Tape Club

Sometimes an album of B-sides and rareities winds up spawning incredible gems, and that's what SSLYBY's Tape Club is promising with this awesome unreleased track. Tape Club is out 10/18.

    4. "Fall Creek Boys Choir" - Bon Iver and James Blake - Single

When guys like Bon Iver and James Blake do a collaboration, you need to hear it at least once. That's like, some sort of unwritten indie rock rule. Fans of Blake will enjoy it heartly, fans of Justin Vernon, well, decide for yourself.

    5. "Honey Bunny" - Girls - Father, Son, Holy Ghost

After "Vomit", this song got us PUMPED for the new Girls record. Hope you feel the same way. The disc hits shelves 9/13.

    6. "The Adventures Of Rain Dance Maggie" - Red Hot Chili Peppers - I'm With You

Try as you might, but it's tough to ignore all the swirling nineties nostalgia flooding our consumerism, especially in the music sector. 90s are the new 80s? This definitely sounds like a RHCP song, so it may not be a step forward for the band, but it isn't a step backwards either! The full record is out 8/29.

    7. "Terra Incognita" - Atlas Sound - Parallax

Atlas Sound just announced a new album, and anyone familiar with Bradford Cox knows this guy doesn't skimp on the quality. Ever. Attention to sonic detail and unique everything is all but guarenteed. Based on this odd bit of acoustic music, we're in for another treat.

    8. "City Of Inbreds" - Wyldlife - Wyldlife

In case you missed us touting this track yesterday on the blog, it's a sprightly upbeat bit of in-your-face rock worth adding to the ol' iTunes. The NY band's self-titled debut is coming shortly, stay tuned.

    9. "Miss You" - The Rapture - In The Grace Of Your Love

Another example of how The Rapture's comeback album is totally awesome and worth forgiving their years of abscence.

    10. "Gotta Go" - Oberhofer - Singles

Brad Oberhofer is the man. We filmed them once, and we're eagerly anticipating the band's full length debut early next year. For now, another taste of single bait to tide us over.
