Beck released a new single, "Dear Life," along with a fun and colorful lyric video. "Dear Life" is the fourth song Beck has shared from his upcoming album Colors, which is set to drop October 13 via Capitol Records. "Wow" and "Dreams" were released as singles, while "Up All Night" was featured in a watch commercial last year and on the FIFA 17 video game soundtrack. Colors will be Beck's thirteenth studio album, following up his 2014 album Morning Phase (throwback to when Kanye protested Beck's Album of the Year win at the Grammy's!)

"Dear Life" begins with a pounding piano riff before launching into a punchy first verse. The sound gets even fuller when the chorus comes around, surrounding you with unexpected melodic and harmonic shifts that become even more dramatic right before the bridge. After a few listens, the melody of the chorus itself has also grown on me - it definitely has a lot of earworm potential. I especially like the lyrics in the bridge - "Dear life, I think the button's stuck/Dear life, I think it's gone too far/Dear life, please lower the bar/Lower than the stars" is really relatable. Overall, "Dear Life" sonically packs a punch and sticks in your mind.
