Obviously, everyone is super excited to see Jay-Z, Gorillaz, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the 2nd Annual Meadows Music & Arts Festival, which is already coming up next month on September 15-17th. They're the headliners and we all know they rock, so how could you not be pumped? But there comes a point in every festival experience where there is a lull in the day - there are artists performing, but you're not sure who they are, or who to see. Well, we've got the solution. Impress your friends with your *ahead of the curve* musical knowledge with these on the performers who might not be huge yet, but are about to be.

    Big Wild

Jacob Stell, better known by his stage name Big Wild, is a DJ and producer from Massachusetts. In 2015, electronic duo ODESZA found Stell through his SoundCloud, and they invited him to join them on tour. From there, his posts on SoundCloud and Youtube racked up millions of plays. His debut EP, The Invincible EP, was released earlier this year through ODESZA's Foreign Family Collective Label.

Rapper and singer Lizzo is an alternative hip-hop powerhouse. After making her way through Minneapolis indie scene, Lizzo made her major-label debut with her EP, Coconut Oil. The EP was co-written and produced by Grammy-nominated Ricky Reed (who has worked with everyone from Pitbull to Miranda Lambert to 5 Seconds of Summer) who sees Lizzo being as big as the likes of Beyonce and Diana Ross someday. And he isn't the only one who thinks so. Lizzo was featured on Prince's "BoyTrouble" from his album Plectrumelectrum.

    Los Colognes

If you want to take a break from the hip-hop and pop and immerse yourself in something a little more Grateful Dead, then Los Colognes is an act you do not want to miss. The Nashville-based rock band prides themselves on being just that: a rock band that will transport you back to the 80s. The era of the Dead, Bob Dylan, and Dire Straits.

For Fans Of: SUSTO, Andrew Combs, Quiet Hollers

    Jacob Banks

Nigerian-born Jacob Banks has always been artistically inclined. But it wasn't until moving to Birmingham, England when he was 13 that he began to craft himself as a musician. At 20, he began playing guitar and performing songs he wrote at open mic nights. His expertly written songs and powerful voice mesmerized casual listeners and world famous musicians alike, leading him to join Sam Smith and Alicia Keys on their UK tours. His Nigerian-roots are ever present in his songs; African inspired melodies and rhythms are paired with 808s and synths to make a sound all his own.

    Public Access T.V.

The power-pop band from New York City was formed by lead vocalist and guitarist John Eatherly after he dropped out of high school at 16 to pursue music full time. Eatherly assembled a group with three other guys, and they posted their first song online in January of 2014. Later that same month, they performed live for the first time, and they sold out. Before the end of the year, they were on tour with Weezer. They released their debut LP, Never Enough, in September of last year.

    Dams of the West

Dams Of The West is the side project of Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Tomson. In his time off from Vampire Weekend, Tomson found himself struggling in the face of real life: adulthood, life away from the road, marriage, and fatherhood. He channeled his frustrations into songwriting, and decided to release a solo record in 2016. Under his newly adopted stage name, Dams of The West, Tomson released his solo record, Youngish American, in February of this year.

Kamaiyah is a rapper and singer hailing from Oakland, California. Her self-released debut mixtape A Good Night In The Ghetto was placed at 21 and 50 by Complex and Pitchfork on their respective "50 Best Albums of 2016" lists. Fantastic Negrito

Fantastic Negrito is the stage name of singer-songwriter Xavier Dphrepaulezz. Inspired by Prince (and his album, Dirty Mind) Xavier taught himself to play music in an attempt to escape his drug-selling lifestyle in Oakland, California. He went on to strike a deal with Prince's manager, and released his first album in 1996 as Xavier. After a seven year break from music, Xavier returned to music as Fantastic Negrito, with a sound he describes as "black roots music for everyone." His first (and Grammy Winning) LP The Last Days of Oakland was released in 2016.

Alt-pop trio DREAMERS is the perfect act to see when you just want to let loose and have fun. After spending time living and writing songs in a Brooklyn rehearsal space, lead vocalist Nick Wold teamed up with childhood friend and drummer Chris Bagamery and bassist Marc "Nelson" Nelson. Following a move to LA, Bagamery was replaced by Jacob Lee Wick, and together the three of them crafted their infectious sound. With catchy choruses, contagious melodies, and insane amounts of energy from all three members, you're bound to have fun during their set.

CRX is the side project of The Strokes' Nick Valensi. During the Strokes' hiatus, CRX is very much an experimental venture for Valensi, as he explores his place as a vocalist and a frontman of a band. CRX has a fun pop-meets-garage-rock vibe, perfect for dancing in an "I Don't Care Who Sees Me" way, and since Valensi is no newcomer to the world of performing or festivals, this performance is sure to be a highlight of the event.
