Sometimes people lie. But when they lie, the truth always comes up. Although they can't hide it forever, they might be capable of hiding it for a pretty long time... Like until you get to the altar. That's presumably what happened to singer-songwriter LOLO
in her latest video for "Heard It From A Friend." Its gorgeous, light pink-tinged footage shows LOLO sitting at a bar in a wedding dress and serenading her ex-fiance, who seems to be held hostage. Close ups of the singer's face show she's dirtied up with smeared mascara and tears as her voice crackles and screams at us. Her vocals are so intense and upfront that it almost feels as if she's yelling directly at us (and after seeing this, it's safe to say you don't want to ever
break this woman's heart). With a mixture of influences from The Black Keys and even Amy Winehouse, this Jackson, TN native's voice is filled with effortless soul and rawness.
She told us a little bit about the song herself, "You can only bury the truth for so long. When the truth surfaces and you're outed, what do you do? Do you run and hide or do you own up? When you run and hide, what you did still exists. This song is the evidence." Make sure to check out the song which is off her debut album In Loving Memory Of When I Gave A Shit,
out September 9.
