When an artist credits The Pogues in the first line of his bio, my ears immediately perk. In the case of up-and-coming Australian Vance Joy, this shared affection towards classic Irish punk was only the tip of the iceberg. Although his voice doesn't exactly emulate the riotous Shane MacGowan on his debut EP God Loves You When You're Dancing (9/3), it does show semblance in a shaky sense of sincerity.

Today's Single Serving brings us God Loves You... track "Riptide", which pairs his earnest voice with a Beirut-esque ukulele strum, and builds with fervent, tropical percussion that will collectively have you longing for the seashore.

Next month Vance Joy will be States-bound as he hitches a ride alongside UK's Tom Odell. God Loves You When You're Dancing is due out in the U.S. September 3rd on Atlantic, and you can pre-order your copy here.
