Exploring the Darkness with a New Dirty Beaches Single

I recently re-watched David Lynch's 1997 psychological thriller, Lost Highway. It's a hallucinatory fever dream at its most benign and a psychedelic nightmare turned to reality at its most horrifying. "Displaced," the lead-off single (if that word is even remotely appropariate here) from Dirty Beaches' new instrumental LP, Stateless, would have been right at home in any of Lynch's avant-garde cinematic experiments. It's a beautiful track but deeply unsettling to an equal degree. It flutters and wavers like a mental break made into musical form. For fans of Trent Reznor's recent film scores, it's a must listen.
