This week in the wonderful world of celebrity problems, we have two stories that show the perils of social media. Sometimes, it's so hard for celebs to feel the love from their millions and millions of their adoring fans, and these two stories show the dangers that can arise when the fan base turns on their beloved icons.
Bieber quits Instagram Amid Feud with ex-Bae Selena!!! #OMGGG #Junstinwhy #TeamSelena
Whether you love him or hate him, you have to agree at least a little that Canada's embarrassment Justin Bieber makes it very, very easy to dislike him. One person who may agree with that statement is the Bieb's former bae, Selina Gomez, who resurrected the ongoing feud between the two singers. The juicy drama all started when Bieber posted photos of him and his current GF, Sofia Richie, and his fans had some less-than-nice things to say about the new couple. Bieber then threatened to turn on his Beliebers, saying, "I'm gonna make my Instagram private if you guys don't stop the hate. This is getting out of hand, if you guys are really fans you wouldn't be so mean to people that I like." I would show the post, but Belieb it or not, Bieber actually shut down his Instagram, but not before Gomez had something to say about it. In defense of Bieber's fans, Gomez commented on one of the photos (shown below as a screencap) saying, "If you can't handle the hate then stop posting pictures of your girlfriend lol."
Bieber closed up shop on Insta soon after Selena brought the heat, but the plot only thickens from there, my dear gossip readers. After the drama erupted, Gomez took to Snapchat and posted a simple pic of blackness, with the caption "What I said was selfish and pointless." As of writing this, the Biebs has yet to respond to Gomez's vague and humble apology. Will he show a truly uncharacteristic shred of human decency, or will he tell Selena to go lover herself? It's these kids of stories we gossip journalists LIVE for, so we will keep you updated as the web get more tangled.
Blake Shelton's Twitter Jokes Come Back To Haunt Him #dramaaaa #notcool #whoknew #poorGwen
I've said it once, I'll say it again, and I'll never stop saying it: The Internet Never Forgets. Those who grew up during the age of the Internet understand this cardinal rule fairly well, but those who still remember floppy disks and 2GB hard drives the size of small cars sometimes have to learn this fact the hard way, making for some awkward and embarrassing situations for our star-studded icons. Well, the latest celeb to have his Internet history bite him in the ass is country star and the Voice judge, Blake Shelton. Since apparently his fans have nothing better to do with their time than go digging through his Twitter feed, people were appalled when tweets Shelton made years ago resurfaced, which came across as racist, homophobic, and making light of rape. Some insightful gems from Shelton's past include, "Question for my gay followers...Are skittles y'all's favorite candy?" or "Soo...I just figured out a great excuse for my sick fantasy about Dakota Fanning. I thought she was Amanda Seyfried," plus this lovely tidbit, "Wish the dickhead in the next room would either shut up or learn some English so I would at least know what he's planning to bomb!"
Shelton addressed the controversial tweets in the post above, in hopes that this is the only damage control he'll need to do. Let this be a lesson to always watch what you say online, because you never know when you'll reach a point of fame where people actually pay attention to the crap that comes out of your mouth. Blake Shelton certainly didnt think he'd reach that point.
