Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak
recently announced her debut LP, If You See Me, Say Yes
under the moniker Flock of Dimes
, out September 23 via Partisan Records. It's a solo project that not only Wasner has been wanting to complete for years, but something we've been patiently waiting for as well.
It's one of the first projects where the singer has done much more than just sing, but also write, play, and produce most of it herself. It was mixed by one of our favorite Dallas producers, John Congleton (St. Vincent, Angel Olsen) and it pretty much sounds like classic Wye Oak but with a little more fearless experimentation -- dabbling in a more indie pop type of genre. Not only does Wasner use the poetic lyrics, "Won't you liven me up with color,"
to paint the song with imagery, but the video further brings the words to life with glitchy stop motion and colorful, 80s-inspired animation.
