Yesterday, alternative rockers Brand New
shared some exciting news via social media. In a series of vague tweets, the band announced that they will be releasing their fifth album sometime this year.
The first tweet announced that there will be an album, it will be released on "very limited" vinyl, and that it ships in October. That's it. No release date, no discernible album title (unless of course it is just called Fifth Album
), there wasn't even any color. The second tweet provided no clarification, just that the band would be touring the United States and the United Kingdom September through November.
The announcement comes as both a surprise and a sigh of relief for fans. This will be the band's first LP since Daisy
, which was released back in 2009. Two singles have been released since Daisy
and a few demos, but other than that, nothing really substantial. Over the past eight years, the band has made multiple claims that Brand New would be no longer. Fans are hopeful that new music means a new surge of life for the band.
As of right now, it's unclear whether this is a resurgence of Brand New, or if this album will act as their swan song.
