Rapper VS Actor: Artists That Have Done Both

We've seen so many former rappers continue their careers in the entertainment business as actors and vice versa. Both Vince Staples and Chance the Rapper have been in commercials for Sprite and Kit Kat, and Chance also starred in a VICE short titled "Mr. Happy." We're in love with all of these multi-talented artists, and there's so many that the list can go on forever. Here are some of our favorite rappers-turned-actors and, uh, actors-turned-rappers. *Smooth*.

    1. Childish Gambino

One of the best current examples of a rapper bouncing between music and acting is Donald Glover. If you only know his music, then you see him as a rapper. But if you first saw him on the show NBC show Community or watched his stand up special, then you might laugh a little every time you see his face.

    2. Ice Cube

I mean, have you seen Ice Cube's face in the family-friendly movie Are We There Yet? Sure he's a rapper and was part of N.W.A., but Are We There Yet! He was also in the 1991 film Boyz in da Hood which first launched his acting career and also starred in 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street.

    3. Nicki Minaj

Nicki has been involved in movies like The Other Woman, the animated film Ice Age: Continental Drift and Barbershop: The Next Cut. So next time you think that she's only in it for her ability to spit rhymes, she actually has some pretty great acting skills as well.

    4. Jamie Foxx

If you saw the movie Baby Driver, you've seen Jamie Foxx's wondrous acting skills. He has been involved in so many movies and shows from Django Unchained to Collateral to Horrible Bosses. However we still know him as an amazing singer, rapper, and producer as well.

    5. Will Smith

A classic example of a great rapper/actor combination. Of course we know Will Smith for his original 90s sitcom Fresh Prince of Belair and various other movies throughout the years like Hitch, Concussion, and The Pursuit of Happiness. But we also know him for some of his laid back feel good hip-hop tracks like "Get Jiggy With It" and "Miami."

    6. Ludacris

Featured in The Fast And Furious 2, Crash, and even the movie New Year's Eve in 2011, Ludacris has had some very versatile acting experiences. He's also a classic rapper ("How Low," anyone?).

    7. A$AP Rocky

Many people didn't realize this, but A$AP Rocky was actually in the 2015 movie Dope. He is currently one of the most exciting rappers, with a couple of albums and various features that have put him on the map for the last 5 years. Though this was his only experience acting, maybe he will continue to explore this side of entertainment in the future (fingers crossed).
