Brooklyn duo The Drums
are back with their dreamy indie-pop, exploring their newest sounds through a fantastical video. A band hailing from Brooklyn, their sound has caught on more than rapidly. Starting their first shows in 2009, The Drums found themselves on an incline: a growing fan base and a desire from labels to release their idiosyncratic pop creations.
In the video for their new song "There is Nothing Left", an exploration of love is definitely the focal point. Yet, very soon we are introduced to a werewolf-like character which distorts the romantic views and cinematic landscapes. Eating fruit together, the couple lounges while this mythical creature watches and follows them. While the significance is unclear, it definitely adds to the haziness and abnormal qualities of The Drums' pop sound. "There is Nothing Left" is a euphoric piece of likable synth-pop, with melodies gliding harmoniously along the cascading synth leads. While the video doesn't make much sense, it's definitely nothing short of visually and sonically stimulating.
