Like a less angry and isolated Damien Rice, the London-based trio, Daughter
-- made up of Elena Tonra, Igor Haefeli and Remi Aguilella -- continue to floor us with their quaint force. The just-released "Smother" picks up where their EP His Young Heart
left off, with Haefeli's smooth guitar-picking lacing Tonra's hushed, fragile voice and self-deprecating lyrics.
Considering Daughter's cinematic flair and the fatalistic way they play each song, I think we may have found the female answer to Bon Iver. This track, paired with their two previous EPs, proves that Daughter has some real potential, and that their forthcoming album could be a monster.
"Smother" will be released on 7" vinyl on 10/1. Stream it for yourself below.
