Last week, we were promised by Lana Del Rey's Instagram
that we would be hearing her newest single off of her upcoming full length, Honeymoon
. The track contains more of an electronic edge for Lana, surrounding her voice with gleaming synths that pick up with trap-like percussion and pulsating Lollipop
-like synth effects minus Lil Wayne's signature underwhelming guitar solo (thank god).
The track is pretty straight forward, but not exactly memorable or groundbreaking. The repetitive nature of the track creates a flat piece, especially when paired with Del Rey's seemingly uninspired lyrics. She discusses her dilemma with her man, and how she wants to, you guessed it, get high by the beach. The song is an easy listen, but its nothing to write home about, and eventually had me revisiting some of her older tracks like Video Games
and Young and Beautiful
. But, to each his own.
