If you've never played the video game Portal 2, then you might not have known that The National's new song "Exile, Vilify" plays on a radio at some point within the game. You also might not have known that The National recently teamed up with the gamemakers to hold a video contest for this song. Regardless, you don't need to know anything about the game to see why the winning video was chosen.

The video, shot by C.F. Meister, follows the lonely travels of a man and his sock puppet. There's something about the sad singing sock that is both hysterical and heartbreaking at the same time. It captures the emotional swells of the song perfectly. Follow the duo below as they roam the beautiful countryside.
