Why does every artist have to drop their album on the same day? For us listeners, it's a challenge to catch up with every new release, especially when it's several different releases from all really exciting artists. So to cut through the noise and make sure you have all of your ducks in a row, we're briefly rounding up the most important albums to listen to this week.
1. HAIM - Something to Tell You
After all of the HAIM hype, the new album is finally here, and it was well worth the wait! We're already familiar with fantastic singles like "Want You Back," and "Little of Your Love," but thankfully the rest of the album is similarly glossy and illustrious. Other highlights include "You Never Knew" and "Ready for You."
2. Broken Social Scene - Hug Of Thunder
The beloved indie rock collective is back, and their music sounds as expansive as ever. Listen to this record if you want to hear some of the most prominent voices in indie rock (including Emily Haines and Feist) collaborating to make toe-tapping, grandiose rock music.
3. Toro y Moi - Boo Boo
The synth-pop singer/producer gets more and more interesting with every release. The production on his newest record is creative to say the least, and his latest influences are clear (Travis Scott, Daft Punk, and Frank Ocean were big influences for him during the recording). Be sure to check out tracks "Pavement" and "You and I," which really show off his inventive recording practices.
