MTV has long ceased being a dependable source for music videos; now you're more likely to find pregnant teens and all other forms of reality TV than music in any form. However MTV continues to hold their annual Video Music Awards and hand out those little spaceman trophies as if they're still an authority (that's a separate conversation). The list usually consists of Top 40s pop acts and boy bands. This year's nominations show no change; Selena Gomez beat out Lana Del Ray for a bid as Best Female, someone invited Chris Brown and Katy Perry has four nominations -- Jack White has one. If I were the one handing out the awards the nominations would be drastically different.
