Obviously musicians aren't required to blab to us loyal fans about everything they've been doing, writing, singing, playing, eating, etc. but we still can't help but feel a little bit betrayed when we find out something like what Florence Welch of the ever-ethereal Florence and the Machine
has just announced. The secret she spilled? Forence has been secretly recording 'weird' dance music with vaguely churchy vibes, with a new side project called 'Side Project' (fitting). It has yet to reach public ears, so we can only imagine what their hippest-church-choir-on-the-block concoction sounds like. The band hasn't yet decided when it will release the tracks to the public, if at all. Fine, stay mysterious, meanies.
The Machine's no stranger to dance influences -- in fact, electro-king Calvin Harris remixed their recent track "Spectrum" to absolute perfection -- so it'll be interesting to see how Florence's new project goes about making dance party tracks from scratch. In the meantime, check out Florence and the Machine below at their danciest to date, with the aid of their friendly neighborhood-DJ Calvin Harris:
