Today, we have the exclusive premiere of Sara Rachele + The Skintights
' new single off of their forthcoming album, Motel Fire
, out August 5th. It's a gorgeous Americana track filled with haunting vocals and airy guitar a bit reminiscent of Stevie Nicks or Zella Day.
"We cut this track to tape when we were at my bandmate Gyasi's farm, in Hinton, WV," Rachele said about the song. "It's one of the most beautiful places I've ever been in my life, primitive-style cabin, and in a holler, with guinea fowl, peacocks, farm horses, and sweet pups named Mocha and Butter. His family is dedicated to preservation, and they are botanists and true artists, man... They work alongside the native plants, and so when Waylon came up there with me, we all produced this little tune together on the tape machine in the cabin."
And thats almost the exact visual this track evokes. Black and white, away from the stress of life in the city, a one-with-the-land type of feeling. "I had been wanting to write something that I could clog on and play guitar at the same time and one day when Sara and I were hanging out while at Berklee I just started playing that guitar part and she immediately came in with a great vocal," says Gyasi Heus. "It was very spontaneous and it has changed very little since that moment."
Rachele, Heus, and wWaylon deliver a saturnine, country-folk sound with "Mockingbird," and it's a clear indication that you wont want to miss their album Motel Fire,
