Why does every artist have to drop their album on the same day? For us listeners, it's a challenge to catch up with every new release, especially when it's several different releases from all really exciting artists. So to cut through the noise and make sure you have all of your ducks in a row, we're briefly rounding up the most important albums to listen to this week.
1. Arcade Fire – Everything Now
If you have been living under a very large rock and somehow didn't know - Arcade Fire's album is finally here! Everything Now
is the first album since their album Reflektor
in 2013 and was released through Sony. The top songs you must hear are "Electric Blue," "Everything Now," and "Creature Comfort."
2. Passion Pit – Tremendous Sea of Love
Michael Angelakos released this album for free on Twitter a few months ago but now it's time for the official release everywhere. This is the band's fourth album and their last project was back in 2015, Kindred
. It was released through Wishart Group Recordings and some songs to check out are "Hey K" and "Undertow."
3. Alice Cooper – Paranormal
Rock legend Alice Cooper has released a new album including some interesting hard rock tracks. This is his first studio album since 2011's Welcome 2 My Nightmare.
This new album features standout tracks "Paranormal" and "Fallen in Love."
4. Cage the Elephant – Unpeeled
This new album Unpeeled
is Cage the Elephant's first project since 2015, following up Tell Me I'm Pretty
. The album is interesting because it gives us the stripped down versions of some of the band's classic hits. The album was released through RCA Records and highlight tracks to listen to are "Rubberball," "Crybaby," and "Cigarette Daydreams."
5. Joywave – Content
is Joywave's 5th album and so far, they have been on a steady track of releasing a new album once a year since 2015. Some songs to check out are "It's a Trip!," "Going to a Place," and "Rumours." The album was released through Culto Music/Hollywood Records.
6. Manchester Orchestra – A Black Mile To The Surface
Manchester Orchestra just released their first project since Hope
in 2014. If you're a fan of peaceful indie rock then this album is for you. The record is released through Loma Vista Recordings and some standout songs to listen to are "The Gold" and "The Sunshine."
7. Vic Mensa –The Autobiography
Though this album was released only through NPR
, now it is officially released everywhere. The Autobiography
is a big deal for Vic Mensa because though he has had hits in the past, this is his first actual debut album. The album is released through Roc Nation Records and the songs to listen to are "Memories on 47th Street" and "Wings."
