There's this new little game out right now and maybe you've heard of it... It's called Pokemon Go. Yeah, it's only like, the hottest, most popular mobile game in the world right now. No seriously, it is actually the biggest mobile app in U.S. history
I've personally never played Pokemon Go before, and honestly... *swallows pride and patiently waits for the hate mail to start pouring in*
I'm not a big Pokemon fan. But there's so much hype around this game. I saw one kid get hit by a car
because she was so absorbed in finding Pokemon? And then she blamed the game? Yeah, it's shit like that that actually turned me away from the game. Plus, there's a warning that pops up before the game begins that tells you to BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.
But when I found out I was attending Panorama Music Festival, I thought it would be a pretty interesting place to try out the game for the first time. I'd be with all my friends (yeah, I got some friends!), the most dangerous thing I could run into is a stage, and there must be a lot of Pokemon since there are a lot of people! So I cleared off some space on my phone (got too many selfies on my 64 GB) and downloaded the app.
It was a pretty disappointing experience, as there were no Pokemon on NYC's Randall's Island. I did not "catch 'em all." But I don't regret playing because I made some new friends along the way, and now when I hear another story about a girl getting hit by a car, I can try to empathize with them a little bit more... Watch the video to go on a wild Pokemon adventure with me.
