Weezer fans and music lovers will agree; Weezer will never be the same as they were following their retrospectively beloved Pinkerton album. It seems after Rivers Cuomo's honestly poignant release following their wildly successful Weezer (AKA The Blue Album), the group has retreated for safer, more palatable tunes. Not to say that the latter part of their career hasn't produced quality pop material, but with no sign of the return of heyday Weezer is something that we all will just have to accept.
Their latest video features Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino, an artist who has seemed to take a Weezer-like approach to her career trajectory. Though the song may not be their strongest, the video is thoroughly entertaining, as it follows Cuomo, a hopeless lover, relentlessly taking on new identities for him to display on "Winder", a parody of the dating app Tinder. Cuomo takes on the image of everything from a frat bro, to a record nerd, to a wannabe surfer in attempts to attract the Best Coast frontwoman.
