Though Weezer fans were longing for something blank and blue out of the band's forthcoming album Everything Will Be Alright In The End
, Rivers Cuomo and crew had something much more monstrous in mind for its cover art. Similar to their 2010 release Hurley
, which portrayed its own hairy creature cover
, Weezer's latest features a giant beast wandering through a picturesque mountain landscape. But where did this bizarre image come from?
Like your girlfriend and all the scene kids, Weezer found their latest cover art in the densely packed isles of a thrift shop ... sort of. Last year an artist named Chris McMahon
shared a quirky series of paintings he had been working on, which were all birthed out of the local Goodwill. Rather than painting on bare canvas, the artist collected a handful of passe landscape paintings, on which he installed big beasties. See the entire series with additional "Thrift pix" by McMahon's cohort Thyrza Segal here
, and check out the Everything Will Be Alright In the End
Everything Will Be Alright In the End
