's newest single, "We're On the Road Again" is a classic rock fan's dream. The second single off of the former Beatles
' upcoming album Give More Love
features ex-bandmate Paul McCartney
, Joe Walsh of the Eagles (and Ringo's brother-in-law,) and Steve Lukather from Toto, who co-wrote the song.
If you're unfamiliar with Ringo's extensive solo career (this will be his 19th album) and know him only from the measly 11 songs he sang lead vocals on while with the Beatles, this song may come as a bit of a shock to you. It is a lot more "rock-ish" than his songs with the Beatles, but that might be representative of the people that he has featured on the song with him. "We're On the Road Again" is driven by Joe Walsh and his signature bluesy guitar riffs and solos. Paul McCartney adds a punk-esque bass line which nicely compliments the prominent guitar and Ringo's energetic, albeit kind of monotone, vocals.
McCartney, Lukather, and Walsh sing (or maybe shout is a better word) background vocals on this track all about the antics that go on behind the scenes of a Ringo Starr and His All-Star Band tour. Overall, this is a fun, anthem-rock song that I can only imagine would be a blast to see live.
Give More Love
will be out on the 15th of September.
