Oldest story in the book. Your average heterosexual dude falls madly in love with a beautiful, mysterious woman, who just happens to be his best bro in lady clothes. You could say that the cheeky The Magnetic Fields's "Andrew in Drag" isn't the most natural fit for the soulful sensitive lads of The Shins to cover. If you wanna be a huge bummer, that is. While in Australia, the band performed their own version of this hilarious modern day romantic tragedy on Triple J's radio covers show "Like a Version," and lead singer James Mercer sheds his usual sincerity for some whole-hearted irony. Gender-blurred heartbreak never sounded this fun.
