The multi-talented Donald Glover, otherwise known as Childish Gambino, is holding down his promise to bring more music to his fans. And the actor/comedian/rapper has reduced his role on the NBC show Community in order to fulfill that promise. The first result of his new prioritization comes Gambino's new single "Centipede". The nearly 6-minute track begins with a strange a cappella over a barking dog, eventually leading into a piano intro and drop of a beat. While Gambino's verses clearly indicate that it is a love song about a girl, the meaning of the "Centipede, centipede, centipede" chorus is thus far unclear. Then around the 3-minute mark, the instrumental makes an intense and abrupt transition, with the rapper's line invoking more anger. An interesting (and rather long) monologue about the correlation between wealth and women takes up the last minute and a half of the song over the consistent instrumental. Listen below.
