Over the past year, former The Smiths frontman Morrissey has cancelled a large portion of his concerts due to multiple factors including his mother's illness, his own health problems, and a lack of funding. Despite numerous attempts to postpone shows, the constant pushing back of dates has generally lead to full cancellations. The "I'm Throwing My Arms Around Paris" singer has released a number of apologetic notes to his fans, but has kept busy by criticizing Margaret Thatcher, Jimmy Kimmel, and unsurprisingly, (Meat Is Murder after all), foie gras.
So, let's dive into the numbers, beginning in October 2012.
US Tour: 9 out of 26 shows performed, 34.6 percent
Australia/New Zealand: 6 out of 6 shows performed, 100 percent
2nd US Tour: 14 out of 35 shows performed, 40 percent
Mexico/South America: 0 out of 19, 0 percent
That gives us a total of 29 out of 86, or playing just about 1/3 of his scheduled dates.
Next time you go to purchase tickets, just know there is only a 33.7 percent chance of actually seeing him. So, Morrissey's light isn't out yet, but it is certainly flickering.
