There are three things I can confidently say we as humans all have in common: technology, food, and music. Hell, these are just necessities for survival. On Wednesday night, LG Electronics and Top Chef's
Chef Dale Talde came together to host an exclusive event, LG Sound Bites, where they overlapped all of the senses -- a simple idea that is so rarely executed this well. As guests took a tour of LG's 2017 audio lineup, which spanned two floors, Chef Talde prepared cocktails and hors d'oeuvres along with curated music to enhance the experience.
There were four courses, each accompanied by a different genre of music. Jerk shrimp cocktail with reggae, deviled eggs, smothered collard greens, and ham hocks with hip-hop, Italian beef with Chicago house music, and - my personal favorite - chocolate sundaes with early 90s R&B. As we roamed about, ginger beer and dark rum cocktail in hand, we dove into the demos.
A highlight was the PJ9 Levitating Speaker, which you can see below, because it quite literally levitated. Whether or not you're a tech freak, you can appreciate how progressive and downright entertaining that is. The other winners were the CJ98 and OJ98 Entertainment Systems. Another highlight of the night was when the DJ who was in control of these products insisted I played around with them. I put on "September" by Earth, Wind & Fire (obviously) and he walked me through the tricks of adding cowbell, sonic booms, and even spinning the disk, all using the OJ98. I'm not a DJ, but for a brief second, I really felt like one. And for the record, I will never listen to "September" the same way ever again.
What made this event so special was, as you can tell from above, how interactive it was. Each room in the gorgeous Flatiron Penthouse was designed to feel like a living room, so I was able to walk in and use the products as if I was in the comfort of my own home. Watching a TV that is set up in front of a couch is how I prefer to imagine my future home, rather than against an unrealistic plain white wall.
With handpicked music, Chef Talde's delicious bites and cocktails, and LG's latest products, everyone already felt like they were at home. LG's latest audio innovations are the future, and I'm excited to see where they will go next.
