It's that time of year again: KanyeFest 2011! Whoops, I mean, the MTV VMAs! Last night, MTV announced their nominations for this year's VMAs and were met with howls of disapproval from the pop music community. Once again, they tried ever so hard to please everyone, but what's this? Gaga and Beyonce were only nominated for 3 categories?! And Britney, only 2?! Sorry ladies, but the biggest diva of them all had to have his ego fed. Kanye West is up for 11 nominations mainly for his "All Of The Lights" video and appearance on Katy Perry's "ET". Surprisingly though, none of the above mentioned artists are up for Video of the Year. Those nominations were awarded to Adele for her video "Rolling In The Deep", Bruno Mars for "Grenade", Katy Perry for "Firework", Beastie Boys for "Make Some Noise" and OF's Tyler, The Creator for "Yonkers". Let's take a closer look at these choices.

Adele "Rolling In The Deep": Visually stimulating video with water glasses, smashed plates, etc. The only thing not very interesting to watch is Adele herself. C'mon girl, get up off that chair and DO something. Yes, Adele has been quoted as saying that she doesn't "make music for eyes," but isn't that what a music video is?

Bruno Mars "Grenade": Struggling with a piano = struggles with music? No grenades anywhere in this video. Not even any explosions. I'm disappointed.

Katy Perry "Firework": Now that's more like it. Who wouldn't vote for Katy Perry's boobs shooting off fireworks?

Beastie Boys "Make Some Noise": All-star cast with Seth Rogen, Danny McBride, Elijah Wood, Will Ferrell, Jack Black, John C. Reilly, Jason Schwartzman, Ted Danson, Rainn Wilson, Rashida Jones, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Steve Buscemi, Chloe Sevigny, Maya Rudolph, and even Orlando Bloom. If they win, does that mean all of Hollywood has to share the Moonman?

Tyler, The Creator "Yonkers": This was soley nominated to please the hip hop/indie viewers of MTV (wait what? Those exist?). Impressive that he directed it himself and full of shock-value, AKA the thing OF does best. Also mentions stabbing Bruno Mars: competitive much, Tyler?

Check out the rest of the nominees and categories below. Honorable mention goes out to Rhianna who was nominated for her collaborations on other artist's videos, but none of her own.
