Of Montreal has had a lot going on for them these last few years, thanks in no small part to the band's campy psychedelic vibe, dripping with sexual energy and paired with plenty of over the top live theatrics. "Fugitive Air", from their forthcoming album lousy with sylvianbriar (Oct 8th via Polyvinyl), is something different. Inspired by hippy dippy San Francisco and recorded over three weeks back home in Athens, Georgia, sylvianbriar is a vintage analog journey, stripped back, uncluttered, with no computer thingamabobs to rely on. Kevin Barnes cites the late 60s and early 70s as inspiration ... we're hearing The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Either way, the band is going in a new direction with this one. Dig into the first trickle from the spigot below.
