Here at Baeble, one of our favorite parts of the summertime is our annual Bands + Brews show. Every summer, for the past four years, we've had the opportunity to watch awesome bands take to our stage at Industry City to play some fantastic sets (while we drink beer!). A few weeks ago, we held our fourth Bands + Brews, and it was such a memorable experience that we've been wanting to revisit all of our favorite B + B concerts from years past. After all, what better way is there to celebrate the summer than jamming out to bands who are perfect for this time of year?
One of those bands has to be the American-Welsh indie rock outfit Drowners
, who played an awesome set at last year's B+B.
Drowners are a fantastic rock band to blast from your speakers on a sweltering July afternoon. Their music just exudes warmth and vibrancy, and it's no wonder why, during this set, lead singer Matthew Hitt was practically reduced to a puddle of sweat: the band plays so energetically that you'll be convinced their one and only goal is to leave a lasting impression on all of the prospective new Drowners fans in the audience (also it was just really hot outside that day, but that's beside the point). Hopefully, this set will make a new fan out of you, because Drowners deserves all the recognition they can get for the admirable amount of passion and spirit they put into their performances. This set is, essentially, a solid collection of well-crafted pop songs with memorable hooks and guitar melodies. The band played a ton of songs from their newest album, On Desire
, as well as some fan favorites off of their self-titled 2014 debut album. Check out the concert for yourself, and good luck getting all of these songs out of your head!
