In preparation for their new record, Head Carrier, 90s rock legends, the Pixies have been building plenty of hype for their first album since 2013s Indie City. Along with releasing a new single "Um Chagga Lagga," singer/guitarist Frank Black sat down with BBC Radio 6 [listen below] to talk about the new album, which he said will include a song about former bassist Kim Deal sung by current bassist Paz Lenchantin.

Luckily, Kim Deal fans can leave the pitchforks and torches at home, because Black described the song as a thank you letter rather than a diss track or anything with bad intentions. The song, allegedly titled "All I Think About Now", came about thanks to Lenchantin, who agreed to sing on a track only if Black wrote the lyrics and suggested that he write about Deal.

Deal, a founding member of the Pixies, initially rejoined the band for their 2003 reunion and subsequent tours following their 1993 breakup. In 2013, she left the Pixies again, seemingly for good, much to the confusion of both fans and her own band members. Since then, Black has stipulated that she was simply unhappy with the situation, and the group has left the door open for Deal should she ever want to return. After a less-than-successful stint with bassist Kim Shattuck, Lenchantin joined the group in 2014 and has since become a full-time member.

The song about Deal has yet to be released, and likely won't be heard until Head Carrier drops on September 30th. In the meantime, listen to the forthcoming album's lead single "Um Chagga Lagga" below.
