Bi-coastal trio LANY
describe their music in many ways -- fresh, familiar... but what lead singer Paul Klein thinks is that at the end of the day, they really are just indie. Although "indie" is the label they slap on themselves, they are a name I've been hearing for quite some time now. They're not a household name, but they sure have their eyes on the prize, "we wanna be the biggest name in the world," Klein said. With that ambitious attitude, along with the amount of love they give to their fans and their gruesomely honest music, they might just achieve world domination.
We recently met up with the group at Space Ninety 8 Urban Outfitters in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. At first, when I saw every one of LANY's fans was dressed like a damn UO model, plus the intense stare LANY flashed me
, I was intimidated. Little did I know, though, that they'd immediately open up and be some of the coolest, most driven and hardworking guys in the business right now. Before catching their intimate show where they played songs like "Super Far" and their current big hit "ILYSB," we sat down to discuss their new self-titled album, musical influences, and what it was like to face some of the biggest roadblocks in their career thus far.
