Australian singer/songwriter Kate Miller-Heidke
is well-known for her sense of humor, both in banter and the subject matter of her plucky songs. Her tunes feature a variety of situations both hilarious and affecting, such as an incredulous Miller-Heidke lamenting at the vapidity of a male counterpart, or an ex-boyfriend who wishes to become friends on Facebook after ripping her heart out. One of the new tunes focuses on Miller-Heidke and her partner living in the house of deceased relatives, surrounded by their memories. It's an engaging, entertaining mix of folk, pop, theatricality, and emotional appeal -- jumpy melodies painted with Miller-Heidke's classical training and ivory-savvy, or just a squeak of her upper register. In short -- a great time, no matter the size of the room.

Kate visited our Guest Apartment not too long ago. It's another performance worth checking out.
